Do You Know What a Medical Laboratory Scientist Does?

Medical Laboratory Scientists provide vital information to aid in diagnosis. They provide important functions in hospitals, physician office laboratories, and reference laboratories.  Their role is to provide accurate laboratory results to aid in diagnostics. Medical Laboratory Scientists have a four year degree and are certified by a national accrediting agency. In some states, Medical Laboratory Scientists are licensed by a state board. American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) provides a face for the laboratory professionals on many levels, and in many arenas. ASCLS works hard to promote the profession and create a better future for the Laboratory Professional.

There is a shortage of Medical Laboratory Scientists.  Facilities nationwide need talented individuals to help staff their labs.  As you can see, there are many opportunities as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.  Please watch this video and see Laboratory Professionals providing the face of the laboratory in many ways:  Working in the Blood Bank, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Histology; Collecting specimens and other pre-analytical processes; Lobbying in Washington D.C., Reviewing Policies, Networking, and Students and Professionals Dancing!!!

Please pass this video on to help provide a face to the Laboratory and uncover some of the mysteries that hide behind the big Laboratory Door.
